Initial Hearing Aid Evaluation & Consultation

Once you have had a complete hearing evaluation, the hearing experts of Audio Help Hearing Centers seek to understand what your needs are based on your lifestyle and communication requirements. This takes place during an initial hearing aid evaluation and consultation at one of our New York offices with you and a family member or close friend. It is important to include someone close to you for this initial appointment. They will provide you and your audiologist with another view on your daily communication challenges.

Because Audio Help Hearing Centers is not tied to any one manufacturer of hearing aids, we have the flexibility to make recommendations based on what is best for you. During your initial hearing aid evaluation, your audiologist will review your test results, as well as medical and financial requirements, and will recommend some appropriate options. This will be accomplished in an easy to understand manner and any questions you might have will be addressed. Your audiologist may also set for you and demonstrate hearing aids which are similar to the ones that have been recommended. This demonstration will allow you to experience, in our office, what hearing aids might offer you in your everyday life.

Fitting Appointment
Once you have decided to pursue the hearing aid technology recommended by your audiologist, you will likely be scheduled for a fitting appointment a week or two later. This appointment usually lasts about an hour and is focused on helping you get oriented to your digital hearing aids. During that appointment your audiologist will also help you understand the components of your new devices, how to change batteries and how to insert the devices into your ears comfortably. You will also be given guidelines regarding proper use and what to expect during your first weeks of wearing your hearing aids.

Follow-Up Appointments
Although your new hearing aids are highly sophisticated computers, we must ensure they are functioning properly based on your hearing loss and needs. You will be scheduled for a series of follow-up appointments so your audiologist may check and fine-tune your hearing aids. These appointments also allow time for you to ask questions and become more comfortable with your new technology.
