Audiological Evaluation

Home Audiological Evaluation

The foundation of our comprehensive diagnostic offering is the basic audiological evaluation and assessment. Your audiologist will carefully review your history and primary symptoms. We will take note of any family history of hearing loss, medications, noise-exposure and other health conditions you might be currently managing. Your audiological evaluation will also include a comfortable visual examination of your ears and ear canals completed with a tool called an otoscope.

Once your audiologist has confirmed that your ears are free of any wax or debris, you will be placed in a quiet room for further testing. In the sound-treated room, you will be guided through a series of painless tests that create a picture of your hearing system and detail potential problems within that system.

Tympanometry, Pure-Tone Testing and More

Tympanometry, Pure-Tone Testing and other diagnostic tests round out our audiological evaluation. For details on the types of audiological evaluations we use, please visit the following pages:

  • Tympanometry & Acoustic Reflexes - These tests assess the function of your eardrum, the small bones behind the tympanic membrane, the middle ear space and the muscles in the middle ear.
  • Otoacoustic Emissions - Our audiological evaluation includes an otoacoustic emissions test that measures the echos produced by the hearing system.
  • Pure-Tone Testing - The pure-tone test is a commonly performed hearing test that quantifies your hearing sensitivity.
